Found-Footage Horror Movies.

I'm looking for a new one. I've seen all of the paranormal activities, all of the paranormal entities, Chernobyl diaries, the tunnel, evidence, quarantine, quarantine 2, cloverfield (i didnt like this one, and i dont remember it at all, but when I was searching for found-footage movies it showed up), Gacy House and a few other ghost ones like gacy/paranormal.

Also I am currently downloading Evil Things and am about to watch grave encounters 1 & 2.

I only want horror found-footage films, nothing like Chronicle or anything like that. Thanks ahead of time!


Also, please no foreign movies, english only. I dont care for reading subtitles. I remember I was so upset when I found out [rec] was in spanish, until I found out later that quarantine was pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of it

 

There are actually not that many of these films out really, Paranormal Activity kind of lead the way with these types of films so there are only a handful out there.

I checked out the august underground trilogy, very gruesome. It's not "scary" in a sense of making you jump like the ghost found-footage films, but its more of a "fucked up" kind of thing, or possibily the scariest movies around when you pretend in your head that its real

 

ahah bro i know rec is in spanish or w/e but they remade its sequel in english! by an american company i forget the name.. i think its called quarentine and i also think theres english versions online!

The only decent film you listed were Cloverfield and Rec. If you want good horror movies you have to watch non-english movies. Japan makes the best horror movies and then the US decides to ruin them. TrollHunter was a good found footage, Cannibal Holocaust was good found footage, but there aren't any good found footage horror movies to watch really. If you want excellent horror then watch The Audition, next watch anything by Andrew Jordowsky - not so much horror as surrealist but they're creepy. Watch the film Pi, it is really good. Watch the french film Delicatessen because it is awesome. Watch Videodrome, Jacob's Ladder, and Brazil. El Angel Exterminador is a great film. H.P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon was good. Un Chien Andalou by Salvador Dali and Luis Bunel is a great work.


Last but not least Eraserhead is in my top 5 favorite movies. It is amazing.

I've watched all of these films once, if not twice and I can promise they're all great.

 

Most of the best found-footage movies are foreign. I am racking my brain but I can only think of 2 right now, but I will update this list as they come back to me.

In the mean time, check out:

REC & REC 2 (original movie that the American "Quarantine" is based on)

Atrocious (Spanish horror film of the found-footage genre, the police found a video tape at the site of a grisly murder scene and as the viewer, you are supposed to be watching it)

Martyrs (not a found-footage film, but this French horror movie is a must see. One of the grisliest horror films I've ever seen, but still follows a great story)

 

possibly the most fucked movie ive ever seen. made me feel so empty inside after watching it

 

august underground's mordum + august undergrounds penance are good ones to consider.

if you haven't already, check out cannibal holocaust (it started the whole genre, blair witch popularised it) it has some pretty gruesome scenes, but i will mention the animal killing scenes are real so if you're sensitive about animals don't watch it (they decapitate a giant sea turtle, kill a monkey with a machete, shoot a pig with a shotgun)

 

i dont know what found footage is but my top favorite horror movies are cabin in the woods, insidious, and sinister

 

If I wanted to read a movie, I'd read a god damn book and just cut out the whole video part. The same goes with anime. If I find an anime really interesting but they havn't made it in english, I read the manga instead of watching subtitled shit.

 

Grave Encounters is a good one.
