Why are The Simpsons still so popular after so many years?

I am curious about other people's opinions so feel free to express yourself

 

Because they have always come up with funny stuff.

 

Not really? sometimes people watch them even if they repeat the same episode a shitload of times

 

I personally have no clue. It appeals to an extremely young audience (like 10 or something) since the jokes are pretty lame. "Do'oh" or whatever Homer says is just lame. "why you little...." its all just pretty lame, there's no other word for it in my opinion. American Dad or Family Guy are much superior shows.

 

I remember when I was good my parents let me stay up until 9:30 to watch

Some episodes can be really boring but some are good.

 

I've asked the same question as to why so many people can enjoy watching a bunch of drunk bitches and tool bags on Jersey Shore for 3 years+

 

I dont get why people still watch:

-Simsons
-Futurama
-King of the Hill

All stupid shows

 

I like watching it, same goes for futurama.

 

KOTH is an amazing show I tell you hwhat.

I actually never really like Family Guy. They play out some of their jokes for way too long to the point where it bores me. Like when Stuie does his stupid cry and they play it for a minute, wtf?

 

I half like family guy, when peter falls on his knee and cries for ages, its so shit, I don't know how people find it funny, but yeh simpsons is popular, my little bro watches it at 6pm every night and still watches it if hes seen it, I prefer to watch big bang theory and IT crowd and st00f.

 

Whattt? King of the Hill is an awesome show. It never gets old for me. I'm not that much of a Simpsons or Futurama fan, but they're still watchable for the most part. I find it much harder to believe how so many people think The Big Bang Theory is funny. Show is beyond lame in my opinion and even the commercials are annoying.

 

King of the Hill and Futurama are amazing shows. Futurama has a lot of nerd humor and intelligent jokes. King of the Hill is just humor to relate to.

 

I love Futurama. I really just like all of stupid animated comedy shows. A lot of the South Parks are really good once you get into them. Family guy is so dumb but I love it anyways. Simpsons isn't on netflix so I haven't seen a lot of them but they are written by very smart people and they make so many jokes and references which makes it so damned good. It also has a lot of touching moments and a lot of depth for such a stupid show.

 

No idea tbh, if I see the Simpsons on, I'll keep going about my business, it's not like I'd go out of my way to watch it. Tbh, Futurama is brilliant. Family Guy is pretty good as well and I've never really watched South Park. Although, back to the main subject, as long as it appeals to people, there will always be some kind of demand for it.

 

Yeah thats exactly what i'm talking about. How can people find that funny? Its annoying and just makes me believe that the creators lack enough jokes to fill a full episode.

 

Never got into Futurama. I loved king of the hill. Simpsons was great. Family guy, american dad etc just really got old.

 

Simpsons was pretty good when I was 12-14, but now it's just.. dull and boring lol. Family Guy is the way to go now! =]

 

lol... American Dad and Family Guy wouldn't exist without the Simpsons.

Watch an episode titled "Maggie Makes Three" (Season 6, ep. 13), and you'll know why the Simpsons is one of the greatest shows of all time.

 

They know they can rely on kids watching their show, and that's all it takes to really get a decent amount of views. Some of their episodes are good, others suck - it fluctuates constantly.

 

The random singing in family guy pisses me off so fucking much.
