Laws for betting on sports?

Does anyone know the laws for betting online (sport betting) in New York state?

 

I actually did some research on the issue. If the site is hosted within the state then it is illegal.

 

I always thought betting on sports was illegal in general o.o well in the US.

 

yeah I'm pretty sure if you live in the U.S. its illegal, lots of sports betting sites don't allow people from the U.S. to bet on them.

If you are located in NY, yes it is illegal for you to host sports betting.

If you were to allow this, you would be an illegal bookie and have your site terminated along with potential criminal issues.

However if you yourself are the bettor, you can bet offshore (what I do) without any issues.
