The *New* meta?

So is anyone else just completely annoyed at the new meta...

Top laners taking smite, champions like varus being played in the mid lane running double adc team comps..

I just don't like the recent patches of the game ;/

 

yeah I feel you and this has been happenning a lot recently. Its funny how its working for them though. I've been seeing lots of adc's going mid now actually

 

I'm enjoying the diversity. If you aren't into the new picks, keep in mind the majority of people copying the pro players are inexperienced with the champ/role it's played in, so you have an upperhand if you are playing something you're experienced with against them.

 

I don't think there should be more than 1 champ with smite selected, I want to see more AP assassins again, lb, kata, syndra, theres loads of meta ap mid that should be played

 

As an ADC main, its safe for my to say for us, this meta sucks.

One item tank toplanes and cinderhulk junglers do infinitely more damage than your one item ADC, and with buying lifesteal on the 3rd item or later, its really hard for us to do much at all in teamfights until 30minutes onwards, unless we manage to take out your squishies.

I feel useless as fuck for most of the game, may as well play 5 tanks...

 

Tank metas always fucking suck -- this me reminds of Season 3 all over again.

I didn't actually think people would agree with me I'm glad some of you do. I'm also an adc main but I'm only gold 5, so in this elo it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. I still don't like it though

 

I think once the jungle items get nerfed, or worked around a bit we'll see the super cinderhulk tanks leave top lane.

As for double ADC, it's never been extremely common but I've seen quite a bit of it throughout the years so it isn't too surprising.

 

I just dislike the full tank meta...

 

Full tank meta always seems to come back around eventually, I remember when I first got into silver about a year ago it didnt matter about skill, whatever team had a 3 tanks won. I just highly dislike it.

red smite and cinderhulk both need slight nerfs, as long as the skirmisher smite stays as it is and cinderhulk giving that much % hp i don't see top laners not using it

 

Red smite doesn't need a nerf -- it's only broken on top laners because they get such good stats for the gold with cinderhulk. If they tweak cinderhulk it'll be fine.

 

There buffing graves next patch jesus, because he was't op enough and jinx got a massive nerf but no meta changes.

 

I think they only need to slightly lower the % of bonus HP it gives. The combination of Cinderhulk + Warmogs is beyond ridiculous.

 

So then I get stomped by their adc in 1v1? XD

 

A lot of people playing vayne and yasuo is back because of his true damage in the tank meta

 

I like this meta. Nunu jungle is back in, peel comps are strong again, and it's never been more diverse.

 

Regarding champ diversity: Champ diversity is always a good thing, if you are seeing a different champion in mid lane, it's because Riot did a good job.
Regarding tank overcentralization: Riot has done a good job in adding counters to tanks, namely blade of the ruined king, remember the buff from 5% current hp to 8% with the accompanying attack speed nerf? That was huge, you can now buy Botrk on many non Atac speed adc's like caitlyn, or every adc ever. Use it on your adc after last whisper if you feel the enemy team has too many tanks. The item also has lifesteal to avoid being bursted and movement speed + slow to avoid melees. It's basically an anti tank/bruiser.
They did buff jungle tanks significantly, but remember, they are junglers, they have less gold than the ADC and are required to buy a jungler's item, which is not very stat effective, especially early in the game. The support can also be tanky, I guess, but same deal, they will always be behind than the ADC in gold, so they can never be too tanky without additional gold. So in the tankiest scenario you will face 1 tank with 2 semi tanks. If you are facing 3 tanks and you deal little damage as an adc, it's because both the support and the jungle got kills. Not a meta problem.

yasuo doesn't have true damage.

The difference wouldn't be that significant, but it is there, and it is a small tradeoff. But if you buy botrk as a counter to tankiness, you are buying it as a 3rd or 4th item. At that point 1v1 adc duels are not a priority. So that tradeoff wouldn't even be too relevant.
