What is your opinion on Riot Games?

With recent discussions to unfixed connectivity problems, failure to react from Riot on player issues, failure to notice insanely popular player submitted champion skins, as well as the unexplained failure to add URF as a permanent game mode, I feel this is a necessary discussion.

What is your opinion on the freemium-moba-dominating company?

Are they concerned with the players, or simply profit?

 

Take this with a grain of salt, this is my opinion.
Ive followed riot since its infancy, and ill keep this short.
Riot has grown power hungry, and likes to show how dominant league is outside the game (in regard to esport <-> other games) but also inside the game the game by not giving in to what the community wants. #FUCKINGFREEURF #URF URF URF

HOWEVER. i love riot, and believe they are one of the only companies that has a good company-community interaction, listens to their feedback, and endorse how they have established the LCS to such an extent that it (soontm?) can be compared to that of real sports. sitting in the couch watching some league.

 

fuck riot and its game, so sick of watching them waste time with stupid ass game modes and retarded looking skins. Legit have made it to promo's twice today and lost each time because of people being afk due to server issues. Then your so mad you report the player at the end even though its not their fault. Its time i move onto a new game. The fucking cunts failed to record a huge win during promo's and said i left game even though it was over and it seems to have disappeared. Its not on recent match history or nothing. The game never happened according to riot. Sent them a nice email today

 

Probably if URF was never introduced, we will never have known about it.
But not to mention, I still want it back.

 

Pretty sure URF and the liked game modes will be back, they're testing all these new things and gonna add the most liked ones permanently.

Riot Games used to have extremely questionable ethical behavior at the beginning (Stealing champs/Pendragon, LE Skins), but they've been acting a bit more ethically now.

The actual game is fairly decent, but the recent issues have brought to light just how far behind Riot actually is. Even though Riot tries their hardest to make the game both easy and competitive, they fall extremely short on the competitive aspect compared to other games like DOTA. Just compare patch notes and you'll begin to see the difference.

Off topic, but does it seem like Riot hires a lot of unstable individuals? Kate Von Roeder committed suicide and another individual former/current employee made suicidal notes on Twitter.

 

That has nothing to do with Riot, hiring them, then yes it's to do with Riot, but Riot have nothing to do with how stable they are.

Anyway, there may be a few issues with the game (more recently the connectivity issues) and of some of the community wanting URF back (Not exactly an issue, the community just aren't patient/understanding, personally I don't like any of these "fun" game modes).

Even though there are some issues, I don't think we can complain all that much, it's a FREE game, if it was a pay to play game, then yes, you would expect better service (less downtime, more stable servers etc.). 80% of the time you can play without there being any problems from Riots side (maybe higher than 80).

Riot have done a great job with LoL, for a game that has only been out for 5 years they have come a long way, I just feel like the community don't appreciate all the hard work that goes into league.

 

I simply find it strange that Riot seems to have had a few members that make extreme posts on social media. It might be due to their hiring process or such that certain types of individuals are led into positions at Riot.

I don't know much about other gaming companies and their employees, so if this happens at other gaming companies I'd love to hear it/see stories about it.

Their costumer support is pretty good but when it comes to the firewall problem that people in Kosovo have for ages now, it really is unprofessional.

 

Im sorry but i strongly disagree, the competitive aspect of League may be the strongest in the entire space of esports. Im sure a lot will agree, and you can take a look at esports gaming talkshows such as trashtalk from Richard Lewis that dosnt endorse LoL in any way but still would say that. With the rise of the new Cs;Go the sc community/esports scene has already haltered a good bit.
I dont understand the point you are making about patch notes? riot puts out patch notes per weekly, which is fair in itself, but if there is gamebreaking mechanics in the game, they are hotfixed, so i dont understand what you mean by the competetive integrity falling short due to riots patching policy?

Whenever i have client issues they blame it on this firewall issue, saying 'oh windows automatically sets up firewalls, this is the problem'.

Nigga i aint runnin windows cut the bullshit and fix the actual problem.

 

I talked to support for like 2 weeks about it, I tried so much stuff and then he asked me to do move cables around, but it got fixed on it's own so I never replied. If it happens again I'll see what I can do.

 

All major corporations are about the money. In order to get more money, they should start listening to the players.

 

I have dealt with Riot for many reasons. I can honestly say they are notorious at deflecting the real issue when contacting their support. They have a track record of taking way too long to do things, and constantly make excuses. My guess is, their game has got much bigger than they anticipated and were not prepared for it. I think they are slowly getting better.

I think Riot has put way too much focus on expanding their e-sports presence, but I believe it that their popularity in that domain will stall in the next few years.

Then you reply to that explaining what your case is, they sent that to me as well and then I replied they replied I replied they replied I replied trying so many different things, in the end it fixed on it's own so I didn't bother replying. Riot has the best costumer support I've ever dealt with, they never leave u in the dirt and will help you till the end of the problem. I've contacted them at least 10 times till now they always solved my problems.

Thing is with Riot Support, a lot of the copy+paste responses you get can be escalated to a real response simply by replying to their first answer. I've done this for all of my tickets - it sucks that most of the first-time responses are c+p (but hey it must be alleviating at least SOME of the tickets if they keep doing it), but if you really want a real response an easy way is to just reply
