Question about RS account being hacked

Hi there,
I recently started playing OSRS again about a week or two ago. The only clients I've downloaded are OSbuddy, OSBot and the Ikov Client. After a night of splashing I turned my computer off. When I came back home from work I noticed all my valuables in my bank and inventory were gone. I have no idea how, I've never given anyone my password or been on any phishing sites. I don't even know how someone would know my log in info (as its an e-mail I never use). I've been playing RS for over 10 years, and I've never been hacked before, I don't fall for things like phishing sites or free offers. The only place I have entered in my username and password are on OSBot(using a local script) and OSBuddy.I'm wondering if there is a reasonable explanation? I want to start playing again but I'll only start if I can bot as I don't have the time to train.

First things first, instead of looking for an explanation make sure that your computer is secure.

To be 100% sure it's gone i'd reformat your PC. If that's not an option, i'd run a few scans with malware bytes.

There are ways to get infected without knowing, specifically with java drive bys which are nasty to get rid of.

Thanks man. I actually system restored my pc to a couple weeks before I downloaded anything RS related, and virus scanned/malware scanned my computer. If I had some kind of keygen from somewhere else I'd assume they'd try and take money from my bank and not my runescape account aha

But it still confuses me, I want to bot but I'm scared it'll steal my info. Someone reassure me haha.

 

Yeah, I feel uneasy when using third party tools for RuneScape instead of the actual browser...

 

Man its weird though. I'm not dumb enough to get phished. I've been playing forever, never been hacked. Then I log on after splashing and theres nothing... Even the shit in my bank is gone. Could it be a rollback or something?

 

Might be ikov related since ikov databases get hacked sometimes.

 

Do you use the same password for OS in Ikov? Same usernames etc?

Ikov's database usually gets hacked quite often, so if you've used same details there for OS and Ikov, chances are someones gotten into your account.

Other than that I can't explain why? If you're familiar with phishing links, and you're knowledgeable with getting virus's and what not, it's hard to say exactly what has happened to you.

 

Nope, completely different name and password! The account that got hacked has an e-mail for a login. And I still have the account, it's just that everything on it of value was taken. So I'm really confused. The only place that I've ever entered in my username (Email) and password is OSBot. But so many people use it.

Download malwarebytes use that to scan your pc, change your acc password, and enable authenticator. By doing that your account wont be able to gain access on any other pc unless they have your access code.

 

Great idea. The thing is I don't really want to play the game unless I can bot, and I'm scared the bot stole my username and password as that is the only place I've entered it. Do you think it's still worth it to bot?

 

Someone probably doxed you and then recovered the account if you're totally sure that you weren't keylogged.

 

Use CClearner or Malwarebytes to help you clean your pc.
