Rs name transfers.

Hey I've been wanting to buy an original name for a while, but I want it to be on my own account. What are the chances of a bought name being sniped? This is mainly a question towards people that have transferred names before.

And would be nice if anyone could post here/ msg me a good way to transfer a name.

 

Depends on if you make the trade public or not. Find a name you want to buy from a trusted user, don't post on the thread but rather pm them. Add them on Skype and set up a specific time and date for the trade that is a few days away from the current date. First the owner of the name will use a bond to change their name. Now the name is still not available for taking even though his name is changed. Jagex allows a person to claim back their last used name for 28 days I believe. Next you get your name change screen up and ready and wait for the specific time you set. At that time the owner of the name should use a SECOND bond to switch their name yet again, hence freeing up the name you wanted. As soon as the name is changed the name you want should be freed up and you can take it, but you should do it as fast as possible.

Setting a future time avoids snipers etc but only trade with trusted users as most untrusted people can snipe their own names back and act as if it were sniped by someone else and there is no proof they stole from you.

I recently transfered some awesome and 2 letter names and none of them were sniped, I think you should be fine if you buy a name from someone trusted

This is also true, you need to make sure the name ur buying is well known or it could be sniped with ease. also doing it at odd times in the day can also help.

 

try doing it at a very bizzare time of the day, where most of your timezone would be inactive. i recently bought a rare name, derped around for 2 mins trying to figure out what to do and then eventually changed it, no dramas

Based on experience, timing doesn't matter. What matters most is: desirability and how spread it is that that specific name is being sold, and when. I've seen names worth only 50M RS3 sniped, and I've seen names worth over 1B RS3 transferred just fine. You just need an experienced person apart of the sale, either as MM or the seller, to help you through the process.

 

The biggest reason your name would get sniped is if you tell people or make it known to everyone what name your are buying and when you are buying it, privacy is a must. Nevertheless you can never be 100% sure so you always need to be quick about transferring the name.

The best way I have found is to have your account that has the name on it logged in on one browser. The name needs to be changed once so the name you want to move is the "Last known As" name on the account not the actual one. Have a game client or another browser, please note not two of the same browser but pick like chrome and firefox. As soon as you change the name again quickly type it in and accept the change on the account you want your name on.

The other option is the same for the account that has the name on it except you have a game client open on the create an account screen with all of the info filled out except the account name, you change the name on the account that as it as "Last known As" then quickly type it in on your game client and crate your account.
