[CDT] Submit Ideas for SOTM Minirank here [Prizebox/Donation prize!]

Hey Guys, The CDT Will be restarting signature of the month. One of the prizes for participating or winning this event will be a "SOTM winner" minirank.

We are looking to the community to help us make this minirank. For the next few days are members of the community are able to submit ideas for our new minirank. After submissions have been taken and reviewed by the CDT we will poll and let the community decide which minirank we will use. We will also be posting this thread in General Discussion for more exposure.

• Size is 32x32
• Must be transparent
• Unlimited submissions allowed

Simplest way to make an icon:

Find your image on Google, I recommend using transparent search to avoid ugly background boxes which can be a hassle if you use this simple method:

Click the image of choice, then choose "View original image"

Check the image is transparent, I usually just quickly drag the image on to the nav-bar and if a white border appears, it's not transparent

Next, go to www.online-image-editor.com and paste the direct link you got from "View original image" in to the upload box:

You'll find a toolbar above your image, find the "Resize" tool and resize the image so it's no bigger than 32x32.

Have "Aspect ratio" ticked to avoid stretched/blurry icons

Apply this change and then right click the image and "copy image":

Go to www.imgur.com and hold Ctrl+V to upload the icon:

This step is important, as although you can get a direct link from the editor, they expire shortly.

There isn't a lot of room for symbolism when it comes to art. The conventional symbols pretty much consist of art palettes, brushes, paint buckets, and maybe a canvas or easel. I think we should stick to the conventional theme when it comes to choosing a minirank for an art competition, and at the same time keep it aesthetically pleasing so that people are encouraged to participate. Not a fan of miniranks with text on it because it lowers the overall quality of the minirank in question. I'm an active mobile user, and from my perspective, the text is kind of unreadable from a view of 100%. I tried going in the same direction as you, and it ultimately didn't come out as well as I anticipated. Maybe I'll look for more minirank options, but I wouldn't mind if an art palette was chosen (as long as it's not too similar to the participation minirank). Just my opinion.

 

I also think that we should have a minirank related to art but personally, I would not want a copy of the participation minirank, as a prize. Since the minirank is the prize, it has to be different and it has to be unique.

Concerning the text, I think it was important to let the users know why the winner got that minirank but I could remove it from the miniranks if its not readable.

 

Last one is quite nice.

 

Its probably one of my favorites because it isnt the normal partcipation rank, it is unique, we know why the person got it because of the SOTM & finally, it is graphics related

Id support this as a participant rank but I think the winners should be more extravagant. Gold and perhaps animated (shine every 5 sec or something subtle) if its possible . Which im guessing its not.
