Do you think you could learn math or physics if you were bad at it school but later on decided to put more time and effort into teaching yourself it? (Just an example) this goes for anything in life could be learning a new skill in something as well, id like to hear your views on this.

As long as there is no physical/mental impairment that would disrupt your learning ability, sure.

the mind closes as you get older. children have an easier time learning new things then adults in their 40s. If you're gonna do something do it when you're young and dedicate all your free time to it. Then yes you can learn anything

I don't think this statement would be true. If you have no talent for let's say playing the piano, you can still learn how to play it but you can't learn it to play well.
As well as lot of others, math needs talent too. Time is not enough soz

    Actually disagree with two above statements;

Some children are disruptive, lazy, careless when studying at a younger age, for that reason they don't study as they should. When you grow older and you realise that you should of paid attention, you start realising the world you're in, you end up trying to better yourself.

As you're older, you've grown up learning general knowledge about the world, about people, about the way of life and death, etc. For that reason you end up having more knowledge and skills as you've grown, which can help you study again if you decide to at a later time, meaning your mind isn't closing, if anything we're learning everyday, more then we could when we we're younger. (More years growing up then being younger)

That wouldn't relate to senior ages, because at that age you're memory starts fading anyways.

E.G. If you can learn to sing, then singers aren't talented. If you're unique with the way you sing, then it's a talent.

    This.

It's the same with anything.. In my opinion, if you put time/effort/practice in, you'll get a good result over time. Some quicker than others.

The mind/body start to slow down in a way once you're older, making it hard to learn new things. That's how it is for physical flexibility and such anyway. Doesn't make it impossible, though.

I think this comment describes it the best, but it does depend on what you define as 'learning' something. I believe anyone would be able to learn something and perform but not necessarily in any spectacular sort of way, the people that can do that have been for their whole lives. What really matters is if you chose to do just that and set your life on being amazing at one thing or being mediocre at most things: a Jack of all trades. :p

I believe that you could definitely do it. However, you would need to be dedicated and stick to it. If you aren't dedicated, you aren't going to see any meaningful results.

You can as you get better but generally, it takes time and most of us do not put that time in and if we do, we rush it, get frustrated when we don't remember what we've learned due to that, and quit. This is definitely the case for Math especially. A lot of people suck at it because they never really learned it fully when it was more basic, I know this is true for me but we are usually too young to know the damage.

I believe that if you suck at math, you just are weak at it. You got to practice till you're good at it. "I'll never be good at math" is a lazy excuse.

Hmm . I'm sure you can learn anything yes, but I don't think past a certain age you can *master* some things, they have to be imprinted into your mind from a much younger age.

As long as there's not anything preventing you such as a disability, then yes if you put your mind to it.

I believe anyone can learn something if they put lots of time and effort into something. We're humans.

While the "if you try hard enough you can always succeed" trope is a nice one, it's definitely not true.

I do think most people are incredibly versatile and can learn a variety of new skills, but hard work only gets you so far, innate ability comes into effect at some point. There are plenty of people who could work towards physics their entire life and never grasp as much as people who are truly gifted in said areas (ex: Stephen Hawking). This just being an example, but could easily relate to other areas.

I think there's a distinction to be made between learning something and excelling at something -- i.e. Anyone can learn advanced physics if they're genuinely interested and dedicated but may not (as you said) be able to become one of the best.

Most people never reach lol? He's one of the most respected physicists of all time with some groundbreaking ideas ect.

That's like saying most people will never be on the level of Michael Jordan.. He is on his own level

yes, theres only a few who will ever be as great. There will be people who will get above him, however for michael jordan that might not be the case as basketball the game itself has changed and being able to have a long career as well you gotta be lucky to not get any injuries

Yes, the more times you repeat a concept , the higher chance of your brain memorising it. I believe it takes 1000 times of repetition to fully memorise something
