Hidden Talents of Sythe.org

I'd like to start a thread for everyone to just post their hidden talents. Namely things which you can do well but do not tell others in your lives... You can also include how you either learned the talent or figured out you had it.

Please keep it clean guys, we all know everyone thinks they are good at sex so that's not anything we need to include in this list...

For me:

I can personally cook very well... I generally do not tell many people of this because its often taken as an invitation for them to let me cook for them.... I learned how to cook because I wanted to impress a girlfriend in high school. From there I just began trying to always pamper my tastebuds at home and eat cleanly for the gym. Women like a man who can bust out a 5 star meal in the kitchen haha.

 

I can cook very well, in the kitchen i'll bust out a 5 star meal!

Edit: Oh my god haha i didnt even read your post and then i realised we have the same talent. I love to cook baklava at home, a traditional southern European dish

 

HAHA best friends forever now... Yea tonight I made baked chicken breast on au gratin potatoes with lemon basil asparagus..... And I ain't even got a lady over.

Glad to see that someone values a good meal as well.

 

Not really a "talent" but I'm really good at fixing things, without resources. You give me a broken stereo and I can figure out what's wrong and fix it. Computer crashed? I can fix it. Roof leaking? Just let me handle it. Yard flooded and isn't draining? Call me over. I'm the kind handyman that can fix anything.

 

I build things. If I have a desire for something, and I have the resources or the ability to get them, I usually end up making it.

Right now I'm researching how to make a fully automated hydroponics system for home-grown vegetables etc. for when I move out. I love constructing electronic control systems.

 

Never be ashamed to share your talents. Now, if you're keepin' them secret for another reason you do you.

Umm, I'd hardly call this a talent, but I absolutely rock at Guitar Hero. Hit me up with Through the Fire and the Flames and I'll crush it on expert.

Among other things, I also play guitar so I guess that's a talent? Neither are exactly hidden, but it's not something that generally comes up in my everyday conversation.

Ha, any other herbs in mind? But that's awesome.

 

Potentially. I'm probably just going to stick to things like lettuce or whatever seeds / seedlings are cheap in order to conserve money during the prototyping phase.

It's conceptually not that hard, there are just a lot of things that need to be considered. I plan on using an Arduino Mega 2560 development platform so I can use a 3.2" TFT touchscreen module to control anything from lighting cycles to desired pH.

Lighting would be controlled via relay modules, pH would be controlled by attaching pH UP and pH DOWN solution to the main nutrient solution reservoir via peristaltic pumps and solenoid valves. A piston pump or similar positive displacement pump would drive the main feed flow. Float switches will be used to monitor nutrient levels and raise an alert once the feed starts getting too low. So on, so forth.

I love writing poetry. Even hip hop raps. Just poetry with rhythm. That's mine. There used to be a big poetry/rap thread a couple of years back that I'd constantly be on. Probably went dead after a while.

 

I don't really have a talent but I used to have a friend who'd untangle wires super quick, not too useful but meh.

 

I've got a weird talent of having overpowered reflex as my friends like to call it. I'm good with anything that involves quick reflexs, and I'm very good at clapping or hitting flys, which most find very hard to do, and I do it first shot as well. Personally I've never really taken that much notice to this talent that I have, but other people wished they had it.

 

I'm pretty good at soccer, given that it is something that you can get better at with practice. However I have always seemed to be at least a year ahead of everyone my age. In freshman year of high school, I missed making Varsity by a little bit, but was arguably the best on the junior varsity team.

 

Not sure if you can call it a talent, nor is it really hidden, but I'm a very fast learner when it comes to technical stuff, primarily computers. I've worked in various roles while in the military (general help desk, system admin, network admin, server admin, etc) and picked up on the work very fast, to the point where those teaching/mentoring me were actually impressed.

This is also why I chose the field though, I have a passion for it which makes me enjoy learning more about it, which increases my capacity to pick things up.

Aside from that... I can use my hands as a musical instrument... Kind of like this...

You can kind of call my talent an odd mix of twin telepathy and fate.

 

I'm one of those people who takes an interest in a lot of things but isn't exactly an expert in any single one. Skiing, programming, and bass playing are probably my best. But those are all ordinary.

Something I don't usually go bragging about is that I'm pretty good with imitating accents. I've had entire conversations with strangers in a foreign accent, to the point where they get disoriented when I speak in my usual accent. My best is New Zealander Voices are another thing I do really well. I can imitate almost any voice with a degree of accuracy, as long as they're within my vocal range. Works well for prank calling people you know!

 

Oh god I don't know. I can do math in my head.. I'm not talking about mental math either, more like integrating by parts, gaussian elimination, cholesky decomposition, integration by partial fractions in my head. I was diagnosed with A.D.D when I was a kid and such I'm such a kinetic learner that I literally have to learn everything on my own since my focus is never fully in check.

Weird fact... I can also die in my dreams and stay in the dream, happens to me probably once to twice a week atleast.

 

I spin fire poi, I haven't done it in awhile because of the cold weather though.

Another talent of mine, is I can sing pretty decent. But I'd rather not lol
