How do you think the world began?

If by 'the world' you mean how did Earth synthesise, then I kinda believe in the big bang, its the only semi logical explaination imo. But what caused the big bang? Who knows. Mmmk let me think about this...

Everything in the universe has a gravitational pull, right. So eventually (Trillions of years) everything will be pulled together into one giant mass of matter. So, I'm thinking maybe once that happens the mass is just too great for the universe to withstand, and it implodes under its own mass / gravity and in the process of that a new universe is created, with all of the matter flying out everywhere, and the process begins over again.

However, if you mean life then I really cannot comprehend how life can just come about from nothing. I suppose it would have to be some sort of freak reaction involving electrical storms/magnetic fields/some obscure combination of elements in some weird environment that we can't even imagine. Then the result of this gives us some sort of bacteria. Then evolution takes it from there. It is then somewhat possible that asteroids/comets could transport this bacteria throughout the universe to different planets where they evolve in different ways.

But what do I know... :D

Out of nowhere, we are in a dream. Nah just kidding, well as divica said that's a really really hard question to find an answer. But who knows. Maybe jesus christ created us! Or maybe not.

The word "Began" could already be heading in the wrong direction.

It's hard to grasp the idea of infinite as humans tend to think of things in a start/end way. Day began, Day ended. Life began, Life ended. And so forth, trying to understand something as infinite and 'never' began as it's constant and has always been there. Speaking on an atomic level.

The universe was originally very condensed, but then expanded, and the universe continues to expand today. Somewhere between then and now earth was formed.

Unfortunately wikipedia isn't exactly the most accurate source in the world for some things.

That being said I do personally believe in the big bang since I've obviously got a background in sciences and thus makes it really hard to take the bible as fact when somewhere in there it says the world is much younger than reality.

There's much more to the idea of the Earth's origin than "science vs Catholicism."

Did you not see the 101 references on the bottom of the page? How does it make it harder to accept the bible as fact when the theory suggests that the universe was created and did not always exists just like bible says.

How do you think the world began?

There is no definite proof that anything ACTUALLY happened. The big ban is merely a theory that is made from the limited facts available. If there was proof that there was a 100% chance an event did actually occur then everyone would probably believe this. Since there is no such definitive proof available, all one can do is speculate, guess or have faith.

How do you think the world began?

I am glad you asked and have contemplated how we have began over the years and have a couple different opinions, I could go into much more detail but this is the general gist of each.

It is possible that we were created by extra terrestrial being(s) at a young age of the planet for the most part being either a science experiment, plan to create a similar species that would develop and grow technologically with / without their help, a work force to build to their needs, or cattle to be harvested (alien abductions?). This conclusion came to me while studying Greek and Egyptian mythology and learning of their technology being similar to our own ranging from batteries, building large structures, and their knowledge of the stars and universe. During their time the records they kept described only what they could perceive at the time and they went descriptions such as a chariot that touched the sun or a healer that descended from heaven.

Another version involves a concept similar to the matrix, we are human maybe not being plugged into a machine (in this scenario I would prefer being plugged into a machine) but being a conscious computer program (I would hope with our own thoughts and feeling without any directional force making or predetermining our decisions) designed either as the first copy or more likely inside of another program similar to us but further in the technological advancements inside such as a virtual machine inside of a machine inside of a machine, etc with no reality knowing that they are the original (concept such as running a windows 7 VM inside of a linux VM on a mac computer but on a much larger scale). This would include a program or administrator of some sort that can roll back any major happening that would effect the program directly (dejavu to us would be the result

I've tried wondering about it too and I still have no clue how the world came about.

I only know and I believe that God is the creator of everything in my religion context. I put that as it is and believe in my religion.

Is it really such a bad thing to admit that you don't actually know the origin of all existence? I'd hypothesise that many of the people on this site have barely learned elementary calculus, let alone obtained knowledge that has eluded man for thousands of years.
