Heros Of The Storm???

Anyone played heros of the storm yet? If you did is it good? And worth buying ?

 

As far as I know its still in beta, you can't buy it yet. It'll likely be released later this year.

Do you enjoy blizzard games and/or mobas? If so yes, its worth looking into or buying. I'm definitely going to give it a shot once its officially released.

Yes, it's fun, I play it. It's very casual as far as MOBA games are concerned. Arguably easier than LoL and DotA 2. Not something I can really see having a big competitive scene, but it's well worth the $40 for access if you like this genre of game.

 

I know Overwatch will be worth buying. Finally an FPS from Blizzard, I've heard some players of the beta tend to get bored quickly. I've not played it myself though.

 

Can you buy it directly from Blizzard? Any idea what the actual game will cost? Is it beta key style so you can just apply to your usual account?

 

Yes, it's accessible through battle.net. Beta isn't like alpha where you have a hard reset, everything from heroes to skins (including the game purchase) is carried over on full release.

You don't get a key to type in, but it's essentially paying for beta access to the game.

 

Seen ads about this game before release a while ago lol. Looked pretty cool, good to know that there's some feedback about the game on here. Might try it out, we'll see though.

 

Not worth buying, mediocre game overall but decent for a beta. The lack of customization outside of skins (like no item buying or anything) makes it a pretty bland game.

It's solid, I've been sucked into it these past few weeks. It's fun playing all of my favorite characters from D3, WoW, and Starcraft. Like said above, it's a lot more simplistic than LoL and DoTA but it definitely has its upsides. Games take about 15-30 minutes which is really nice because you can fit a quick match in here and there.

 

got a few friends who are playing it a bunch, all of whom are ex-LoL players,

they're pretty hooked so it must atleast be fun

 

Shitty version of dota 2. Wouldn't play it.

 

After playing HoTS quite a bit over the past few weeks, I'd say you can't even honestly comparing the two. It's like comparing Halo to CoD, yeah they're both FPS but past that they aren't similar.

I'm really liking HoTS a lot more than I like DoTA, but I don't think it is complex enough to overtake DoTA and LoL as an eSport. I love how each match is something different, ranging from different objectives to different talent paths on heroes.

People give it shit because it is "too simple" but the true complexity doesn't come from gold or items, but from the objectives on each map. It's a breath of fresh air coming from League, where I pretty much have a cookie cutter item build on each champion. Obviously build paths are situational but 9 times out of 10 when I'm playing ADC I finish with the same items. In HoTS, I can build my hero to fit a number of different play-styles according to the objectives and they all are viable.

Time will tell if it truly picks up as a large moba, but I'm sure Blizzard has plenty of money to throw at it to make sure it turns out well.

 

I just received my beta invite from blizzard, I'm going to install it and report back.

 

it's an alright casual game, nothing i could really take serious tho.

I bought a beta key and played it for a little bit, the idea behind it cool and it has it's own unique features for a MOBA, but I personally prefer League.

The jungle camps in HotS fight for you after you take them which is awesome, but other than that the game is just average

 

Received my beta key, installed the game.

I played 10 games in a row, which is a lot more than I can say for LoL. I get tired after 3 max.

I'm still pretty nooby at it, but I dominated all the matches I joined. I love the concept, playing with characters from Diablo and Starcraft is awesome. I found support rewarding and enjoyable as well.

I like that there aren't items, rune pages, and skill masteries, or last hitting. I think its a much easier introduction for casuals and people that are new at mobas. Its something I could introduce to my friends without them getting discouraged.

I'm pleasantly surprised, because watching other play on youtube gave me the impression that the game would be boring - but playing it is engaging.

I have a few questions though.

First, what kind of keybinds do people recommend? I find targeting with a and mounting with z to be really awkward in terms of finger placement. I'm sad that it doesn't seem to recognize my mouse buttons, because both could be bound there.

Also please correct me if my understanding is incorrect. But I think both minions and kills give your entire team global xp, and if that's correct I think that's a good thing. It gets rid of people getting upset about stealing kills or trying to share minions. Does that mean that getting a bunch of kills doesn't make you specifically stronger, but rather your whole team?
