Next Gen... How many of you regret it?

I purchased an Xbox One and over its life it hasn't seen much action. Pretty much the only purpose it serves is to play Madden 25 on, a franchise which is still on current gen consoles. Majority of the games that will come out in the next year that I would potentially want are coming out on current gen anyways so I've decided to sell and put the funds towards a car instead. Any of you share my sentiments or are you keeping your next-gen consoles?

 

I don't have much time to play games as I once did but I just recently played my Xbox one for the first time in 178 days according to the console date.

All of my friends were on Xbox 360 despite having an X1 so I asked them why and they all felt the same way you do. Kinda bums me out that I spent all this money into a console just to have an older one serve a more entertaining purpose.

I probably won't sell mine because whenever I get rid of shit my friends tend to switch back and although I don't have the time they do I can see myself getting frustrated... Nonetheless, I'm going to repurchase an Xbox 360 just to have something fun to play while I have the time.

 

Fair enough. I sure am glad I didn't get rid of my Xbox 360 lol.

 

I share your sentiment in the lack of use sense, but I didn't sell back my XB1. I play some BF4 every now and then and enjoy the easy accessibility and such. True it's really not that much of an improvement and I somewhat regret getting it very early and could have saved myself $100 but oh well, we all make bad decisions

 

I barely play on it currently as the games out don't interest me but I don't regret buying it tbh. I'm waiting for the new Halo and CoD to release so I can really start using it. (halo only releases on the X1)

Never really got the xbox hype.

 

I had a computer and was happy. My parents bought a wii for the entire family and that was probs a waste to them.

 

Ah I can understand keeping it for halo despite not personally being a fan of the series. I'll be holding off on CoD until the next Treyarch production likely, the upcoming CoD: Titanfall looks like it won't be my piece of cake. No doubt I'd snap the disk in two after getting quick scoped by someone who's 50 feet in the air.

Actually an acronym but I digress...

Why I prefer console to PC: Couch potato feel, local 2 player, not having to sit up to a computer, cheaper etc

 

I'll get some "next gen" stuff eventually, when they release a special edition or it gets cheaper. Just for a few times a month that I actually would want to play console over pc.

The real problem is it isn't "next gen" even the shittiest computers build in 2014 outpower them. They can't even run all games in native 1080p and they just came out. That and I'd have to pay a monthly subscription.

Honestly my verdict is "meh"

 

Why get a console if not for bloodborne? So far it seems awesome; i regret nothing

 

I hate calling PS4/XB1 a "Next-Gen" console. Until they bring out a game that pushes the consoles limits like Rockstar did with GTA V on the Xbox 360 and PS4 I'll keep my opinion on the consoles as a money grabber.

Nothing but new games that still have the same graphical content the older consoles can preform at.

I also HATE the XB1's interface, like holy shit. Why impement Windows 8 with that shit!

 

That's always the case with new consoles, they don't fully get stressed until further down the track, probably when they start phasing out 360/ps3 by developers releasing games solely for the next-gen consoles.

All of microsoft's products are implementing the windows 8 look, windows phones, even the 360 has a look like that to a lesser degree. I do think they could have done a better job however for example you have to load friends to see your friends that are online and doing so takes ages in comparison to the 360.

Disclaimer:I'm going out on a limb here so correct me if I'm wrong because this is just my broscience opinion but here it is anyways:
If you look at the software in a 360/ps3 it's very average but to play the same game on a PC you would need a computer with higher specs, likely due to the consoles being 100% focused on the game. People are saying that the next-gen consoles are flops and they should have put better components in them... Majority of the games are merely ports from the current console to the next-gen ones and the exclusives haven't had ample time to be coded to stress the "focused" components which will out perform a computer of the same specs.

 

Regret it completely. I'm not tight enough on money to fret over the cost of the Xb1, but I have not seen it get the playing time I expected it to get. I really enjoyed the Dead Rising series, so it was nice playing DR3, but aside from Ryse: Son of Rome, I have not TOUCHED my Xbox One. I have played it once in maybe the past 6 months. I got it the first day it released...

I'm going to start forcing myself to play more, and hope that maybe I can find interest somewhere else. I would go grab Diablo 3 but I already got every single achievement on it and logged over 100 hours into the 360 version. Just seems stupid to buy the same game essentially with slightly more content but spending another 65 bucks tax or shipping included.

 

Ps4 was amazing tbh money worth spent

 

I'm finishing off DR3 now. I hate the concept that there's only a finite amount of time to play it though.

What'd you think of Ryse? I thought it was decent but not worth a purchase, beat it from just hiring it out overnight and I wasn't even playing 24/7

Ryse was fun, but yeah, not quite worth buying it.

Dead Rising has always been pretty strict on the time mechanic, just a part of the game. You get used to it if you've played the earlier iterations.

 

Well.. There are many things of why a PC is better ( for me ). Firstable, you've got a huuuuuuge advantage in terms of graphics, you can allways buy a comfortable gaming seat, you've got a mouse ( which to me, it's so much accurate than the joystick itslef).. I could go on and on, but I think if people like you've already played since they were so young then yes, they got used to it and the computer for them is harder than the joystick. I could of want to play xbox but i hate the controller.. So innaccurate.

 

PS4...

love it over my 360. More functionality (other than no built in media player, which really makes me mad). Better graphics. I hope it lasts longer than my 360 did too!

 

Playing D3 on Xbox one is actually pretty fun Nba 2k14 is also good it's seeing a lot of action since I bought it in Jan.
