puush has been hacked!

From what I can see (personal observation), a hacker(s) got into the puush servers, got into the deployment server they use to roll out the automatic updates and sneaked some malware in there, which was then rolled out and automatically installed on people's computers who had puush running and were online at the time.

Reading their Twitter, they appear to have the situation under control and have rolled out another update themselves that supposedly removes the installed malware.

Personally, I would instantly uninstall puush, start running virus scans (and malware) and change your important passwords on another machine that has not had puush on it. I would just find another temporary screensharing program to use for the time being until puush announce the full story and what exactly happened.

Thanks for this, I'm doing this now, I wouldn't want them getting my skins on Steam, or maybe accessing my Skype and using it to scam on Sythe or reading my chat history. All those are unlikely anyway as anyone who could pull something like this off won't want skins or would use it to scam on Sythe. Maybe they'd read a few embarrassing chat history messages to amuse themselves, but that would be it. Very helpful, thanks Laptop!

 

Yeah but why do you even need a screenshot tools, just either use snipping tool or use ctrl+print in order to take a screenshot and then upload it > easier > won't get you hacked :noworry:

 

I've been using gyazo and it's really helpful and I didn't have any issues with it for the past 4+ years I've used it.

 

Tried to be ahead of the curve by having an autoupdating autouploading screenshot-taker; which has ultimately proved to be their downfall.

Onwards to Gyazo!

Sharex has always been a much more powerful alternative. It's times like this that I'm thankful for it

 

Not really comparative at all to be honest. With puush you press 1-2 buttons and get an instantly uploaded cropped picture of exactly what you want to show and nothing extra.

OT: problem looks to be under control, thanks OP for the warning.

 

Use Greenshot. Automatically uploads an imgur link.

Use hyperdesktop, you can upload to your own FTP, for example:
