[Guide] How To: Setup/Operate A Dazzle Capture Card [Guide]

    Hey!
    Influenza again with another guide.

In this guide, I will be teaching how to setup
    and operate, a Dazzle DVC100
    Capture Card.
*Also known as the White/Black/Red Dazzle*

    What is a Dazzle?
    - A "Dazzle" is a DVD recording device, also known as a "Capture Card". These devices are usually used by people who want to record DVDs, or gamers around the world. May it be for montages/game proof.

What are the minimum system requirements?
    Code:
Windows® XP (SP2 or higher) or Windows Vista (32 bit only)
    Intel® Pentium® or AMD® Athlon® 1.4 GHz or higher (2.4 GHz or higher)
512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
DirectX® 9 or higher compatible graphics card with 64 MB (128 MB Rec.)
DirectX 9 or higher compatible sound card
1 GB of disk space to install software
    1 USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) port
    DVD burner for creating DVDs
    Where Can I purchase this?
It's $44.99 US on Amazon, that's probably the cheapest.
    BUY HERE.
Or you can buy from the original site, whichever you prefer.
    Pinnaclesys.com

    Package Contents
    Code:
Dazzle DVC 100 USB video capture device
    Pinnacle InstantDVD Recorder software
    Quick Start Poster
Now. To setup your Dazzle properly, you'll need the following items:
    • 3 AV Splitters(1 Male, 2 Female). These can be purchased from Radioshack
    • $3 each. (Needed for taking the AV signal and splits within 2 paths)
    • Your gaming console's video/audio cables
    • The Dazzle itself
    • RCA Cable, looks like this:[IMG]
    • Purchase Here
    • A laptop or close by computer

    Now. For the actual setup.
Take your 3 splitters, and plug your XBOX 360 Video/Audio cables into them(1per set).
Once you've done that, take your splitters, and your capture card and plug the splitters into the corresponding colored ports.
After you've done this, take your RCA Cable, and link it into your TV. (Color corresponding).
Once this step is complete, bring your Dazzle, and plug it into a 2.0 USB port, if you have Windows Vista, the device should install automatically, if not, you should have a disc that came with your Dazzle, and you can install from that.
    If not, go
    this site
    and click the following :
Now depending on your operating system, choose whichever is applicable:
Now you'll get this page, and depending on your operating system, choose the corresponding to yours:
Then follow the steps of downloading etc.
Great, if you've made it this far, you're able to use your Dazzle.
Here's a diagram of what your setup is supposed to look like(varies):

    Now for the recording part.
In your package, you should have a disc with Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder on it.
If you only have the capture card itself, follow these steps:
    Go to this site
and click the download, in which corresponds with your operating system:
    Then press continue
    [IMG]
*You may be asked to fill out a form, just do what it says, then hit continue*
A download should pop up, and now follow the instructions etc.
It's a 211MB download, so it will take roughly 8-10mins.
Depending on your operating system, you may be requested to restart.

*NOTE* If downloading from the internet, you may have to go to BestBuy, and buy a serial key for it for $15-20. I'm selling these keys for $7.00 US.
    If needed, contact me.

Alright, if you're still with me, this is what we've done so far:
    • Downloaded Drivers
    • Downloaded Instant DVD Recorder(Not needed if on WindowsXP, seeing as you can use Windows Movie Maker, and can't if Vista).
    • Figured out how to set up the Capture Card

Now, how to use the Instant DVD Recorder.

On the loading screen, press Bring me to Advanced Mode:

You want to select your DVC100 as your capture source.
Then, you want to press "No" for the DVD menus, and set your video time as any amount of time, as you can stop the video at any time.

Now. When finished the recording, you will have a selected place where you want the files. They will be set in .VOB format, and most media players won't read the file. So all you need to do, is right click, and rename. Make the ending from .VOB, to .MPG . You should have best quality with this.

    Steps from there?
You can edit clips in your editting program, make montages, or post your match proof on YouTube.
Well Done! If you've survived this long guide, you now have your Dazzle set up, and ready for recording.

I found this very detailed. Although most older movies are back in as DVDs, some folks might find this really useful! Nice screenies!

I have my dazzle and everything (hooked up) and I was wondering, do you think I should make a guide like this, except on how to hookup a dazzle on a 2 jack TV?

Well, it would come out to the same result.
Most people would understand the whole 2-jack concept, if you only have one sound, and one video output, then only plug in the corresponding cords,
I don't think it's worth an extra guide.

Actually you need to buy 3 A.V splitters, a 3 port phone jack, and some other junk. So it wouldn't be the same thing.
