Newest Addition to Nintedo: The Nintendo DSi

Last year at the 2008 E3 Gaming Convention, Nintendo released info to America about their newest product, the Nintendo DSi. This is the newest version of the Nintendo DS. This product is a pretty giant leap past the competition of the hand-held gaming consoles and has many upgrades. Here are some pictures of the product.

As you see, Nintendo has changed the Nintendo DS several times, but they did very good now. These are the features on the new Nintendo DSi:

    - More slim
    - Bigger touch screen and plain screen
    - Easier access to the power button
    - A brand new home page
    - A SD Card slot, I believe SD card so separately.
    - DS Shop Channel, will use DS Points for downloads.
    - Nintendo Web Browser, powered by Opera.
    - DS Ware, which you download from DS Shop Channel, which includes games and other fun items.
    - 2 cameras, one in front, one in back.

    Some Old Features that Apply:

    - Microphone for game use and now web use.
    - Ability to change brightness of screen.
    - Same old styluses.
    - PictoChat, now can add color and pictures.

    Removed Features:
    - Game Boy Advance Cartridge Slot, no more GBA Game Playable.

Right now the Nintendo DSi is released in Japan only (of coarse) but plans to be sold in World Wide in April 2009. Game Boy Advance games are no longer playable unless you download the DS Ware from the DS Shop Channel. So if you need something to play you own GBA games on, save your Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite.

Discuss the new Nintendo DS here. Do you plan to buy it? Already own one? Rate it?

Think I missed something? Tell me and I will add your credit to this post. :D

It would mostly be in Japanese, so yes it would.
I'm not a hand-helds fan either, besides PSP like you. :p
But I mainly just use DS's for game play of few games.

Some people have already imported a DSi (to America)... just so you know, you can't change the language to English.

This thing looks awsome, I may consider buying one when they drop down in price but 170$ is a great deal!

You still need access to wireless internet to use the internet on the Ds right? Or does it have its own wireless internet like mobile phones?

Looks rather ordinary to me though. I LOVE nintendo games but i don't think i'll buy one, i get bored of gameboys etc real quick.

Damnit, I expect prices for normal DSes will crash after the DSi is released. I need to get one for March 16th, a new Valkyrie Profile game is coming out on the DS :'(

You will need a wireless connections. It is not pleasent, but I do find it as a nice hand held system compared to the rest.

I agree. there isn't really a huge difference. I'm pumped for the new PSP which will definitely own nintendo's new DSi.
