    IRC closure

As most of you are probably aware the IRC has been, at least for the moment, shut down.

The reasons being that I didn't run the IRC as per Sythe's idea of how the place should be ran as I was never told that Sythe wanted it to be run a certain way.

Sythe wanted the following three things:
    1. Staff on sythe.org have access in #Sythe.
    2. Staff members may NOT be banned.
    3. Members banned on sythe.org must be banned on IRC.

I'm not going to run the IRC in this fashion, and have decided to continue running an IRC network under a different name.

I do believe Sythe is willing to reinstate the DNS if someone is willing to run the IRC and abide by those rules.

irc.sythe.org used to point to 72.20.17.172 if anyone would like to connect to it still they can do so VIA IP. then /list to get a list of channels.

If you have any questions I'll address them here.

    Sythe's terms are completely foolish.
    1. Like Fouis said, 40 mods not even knowing simple IRC commands will not properly know how to use the IRC.
    2. Staff do stupid shit on the IRC so letting them be exempt from banning is just giving them more power.
    3. Sythe vet's that have been banned love going on the IRC to see everyone else, letting them not use the IRC is pointless and there are thousands of ways to get around it anyways, so I doubt this rule is going to be enforced.

Sythe is going to have a hard time finding someone who will enforce all of these rules properly and knows how to run the IRC as well.

PM'ed you about new server info btw.

How would Sythe know how the IRC is managed at all? He is never on it, and he barely understands what the IRC even is.

Mmh, that explains why I couldn't connect.
Kinda sucks, since the IRC is fun when I'm bored.

Not like anyone along the "chain of command" has any idea what theyre talking about. Maybe if he had any sense he'd come in himself to view this "abuse and improper management".

Abuse of power did occur, however the person had their access revoked by an oper.

It's not like the event was made up completely though.

I'm interested in potentially owning the sythe irc server and maintaining it the way Sythe would like

I'd just need settings and configurations defaulted before hand and everything set

Obviously Shawn, if you were interested, I'd just be controlling rules, etc. as well as paying for it. You could set configs and edit things the way they need to be since you're obviously more than qualified
