    Why democrats won.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:
*Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
*Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
*Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
*Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called "illegals" and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

    And the other two states?

Are you trying to prove that Democrats winning Congress and the presidency means that citizens are now going to be 100% dependent on the government. Or that the downfall of arguably the greatest empire known to mankind will occur because the blue party beat the red party? I think not

Well, considering the fact that most of the illegal immigrants will go straight to welfare if given amnesty, and the national debt growing, and the president-elect wanting to spend another trillion dollars within the first year, I would have to say yes

The republican and democrat sides are very different partys.... It is waaaaaaaaaaay different now than it was 75 years ago. Back then a democrat would be like a republican today.

    Interesting study.

I'll have to agree with the professor, the United States is becoming more of a socialist society. This is similar to another thread I was commenting on regarding taxation, the majority always wins in the United States.

If the majority of people want free handouts, hashslinger, you're going to have to give it to them. Although the thing is, the people who work hard will always be better off. They'll have better houses, jobs, and a general living environment. These people may have to give some of their money away, but that's life.

"Why the democrats won" A very easy question.

During times of economic stress (such as the one we are in), Democrats are usually better at coming up with ideas to get stuff back on track. Republicans on the other hand are good with war, if there is a significant war going on the Republicans will usually win.

Welfare is run by individual states, and accounts for very little of your total tax money.

The highest level of Federal income tax is 35%.

How do you know so much =o serously...

I was just givving a rough estimate but still... they take alot.

    Here is an example =p

I was talking to the 8 year-old daughter of a friend of mine, and she said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what's the first thing you would do?'

She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.'

'Wow - what a worthy goal,' I told her. 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the grass, pull weeds, and rake my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house.'

She thought that over for a few seconds, 'cause after all she's only 8. And while her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work himself, and you can just pay him the $50?'

And I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Why does the Democrat demographic matter? Do you even pay taxes or are you referring to your parents? Anything you say or do isn't going to change the election results, so I don't know why people keep posting this junk.

I dont want abolish the state.. just lower taxes. Dont you think 35% is a little high? 10% sounds like a generious ammount. The government just needs to budget their spending. The government dosen't know the meaining of the word "save".
