    Invasion of Privacy

Just a question idk if they do it at your school but if your texting on your cell phone or something during class they take it away and dont give it back to you until the end of the day. would this be considered invasion of personal privacy and you can say no when they tell you to give it to them. cause really they could look on it and see all your messages that might be private which you can get expelled for like in a message it might say "when will u buy the drugs from me" etc.

and dont just say yes or no explain plz

    thanks,

I would either tell them no, or take out the battery.

    Bingo.

That's what a lot of people do at my school.

We either tell them no, or take the battery out.

I'm a Senior so I could honestly care less what punishment I receive; but no way in hell am I going to let a school take away my phone and browse through it.

That's absolute shit in my opinion.

I think that when you sign your bullshit contract at the beginning of the year, you're basically agreeing to any bullshit unconstitutional bullshit that they want to do to you.

    Enjoy your bullshit.

If it's the rule that you can't text in class, then you shouldn't text in class..

But like Zypur said, you have every right to take the battery out.

It's not a legal contract, they can't do much...

And if it is a legal contract...

Unless your parents signed it, or you're 18, it's worthless...

    Well, kind of.

Basically by, you (if you are 18), or your parents (if you are not 18), signing this contract; you are saying "Blah blah blah, I will follow the rules and if I am caught breaking the rules, the school has every right to stick their dick in everyone's mouth, ect."

Pretty much since you signed it, and you're in their school and you agreed to the terms (following the school rules).. they can do what they please, if you choose to not follow them.

Whenever that happened to me in hs, I would just tell them I'm putting it away and that was fine lol. Then again I texted my english teacher...my school was pretty laid back now that I look at it haha.

not to like, side with the teachers but if it says in the school rules not to use your phone or else they will take it, you've been warned.

but yes the logical thing to do is take the battery out or lock your phone. you have time to do both of those.

Had an issue, where a school used confiscated cellphones to investigate drug-related problems.

ACLU + concerned family following suit, other schools are keeping on the dl just as a precaution.

The school has every right to take your belongings. Just the same reason why you can't tell your teacher to fuck off.

When you enroll in your school, sometimes you (but mostly your parents, or both) sign a form stating that the school has the right to exact such actions as deemed necessary. This can vary from schools, but so far as they're concerned, you've signed the forms, therefore they have the rights and you don't.

That's how schools work. They are necessary, of course, but some certain things could go under revision. I actually don't care about this matter though, as I don't even use my mobile phone. At most I'll use it twice a day, but often only a couple of times a week. I don't have to worry about this matter, but I can see it from administration's point of view, therefore I don't actually think it's bad regardless of whether it applies to me.

They've done it before. The vice principal in my school took my cellphone(it was out as a clock) that was on my table while doing the CAHSEE. He ended up looking through the pictures ect.

No one likes him, and nothing embarrassing was on it anyways

Are you legally required to give them your phone? No.

If you don't give them your phone, and signed that contract, they can kick you out.
