My Friend can't access site.

He gets the error message: 404 Not Found

The requested URL / was not found on this server.
Apache/1.3.34 Server at www.sythe.org Port 80

He has tried many different browsers and proxies to no avail.

Could anyone please give me the solution to this problem

 

let him clean his cookies? worked with me.

Clear your cache? It happened to me a few times

 

He's basically cleared all the "Private Data" in firefox, so hes cleared, cache cookies, history, offline web data and authenticated sessions.

He claims its his ISP but u have a feeling his fiddling with computers has gone to far... =/

 

Tell him to scan his computer for spyware. Also, tell him to clear his hosts file (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file)

The only thing I know that would bring an error like that is an IP ban from the server itself (different if done using vBulletin) but the IP banning script has been removed since the move to the new server.

If he has another computer running on the same network/on the same internet connection, tell him to try accessing Sythe through that; if it doesn't work, then you can be sure it's a network issue with either your setup or your ISP.

 

hmm weird. tell him to try IE ?
