info about private servers

Hi
i played wow retail for a few years and am now checking out private servers. I was wondering if anyone can either try and explain themselves or has a website they can link about how the emulators work and how to use them.

I am going into computer science in college and have experience in java and visual basic programming languages, and ive heard that many servers use c++ which is similar to java. If anyone has any info about what someone on a development team for a private server, for instance, would actualy be doing in terms of coding that would be great.

Also if i wanted to be a gm on some server does anyone know a website that has gm commands for either type of emulator? Or if anyone has a small private server that i could join to test them out and learn gm commands or programming from experience that would be awsome.

I dont really know much about the emulator mechanics or how they work but hell i know how to setup your own server

PM me for indepth guide how to setup your own server and become GM on it. Also how to make your server public if you want guide for making it public tell in your pm if you have router or dircect connection to your modem.

ascent servers make me sick. Learn MANGoS and read many tutorials on it. But mangos is only my personal preference. Look them bothup and decide what is best for you

 

I never really got into mangos... I heard it's more stable, but I've taken so much time to learn everything I do about ascent/arc/aspire/ I really don't wanna switch...

 

They're not all that different. The only bad thing I find about MaNGOS is that it's a pain to find a pre-compiled core or repack, so you often need to compile your own.
