Tell her you will take good care of it and will be responsible for it. How much are they? And how much for all supplies to take care of one, ex.Cage, Bird Seed...You would need to keep it away from the cats, which is pretty hard.

Honestly I don't see the point in getting a bird, myself I like a animal like a big dog so you can actually interact with it , like wrestle around, run around outside, play fetch etc. I just couldn't see myself getting a bird, of course you living in an apartment don't have many choices I would think.

Small birds are disgusting and yappy. You will never sleep again.

    Get a snake.

My mum said I should get a bird, a long long time ago. But you can't take birds for walks, so it contradicted her saying get out of the house. I got a border collie, and I r happy. Screw birds. :)

You can't really interact with birds, whereas animals like dogs and cats you can.Try another maybe?

Get a dog. But not one that grows large, get a Fox terrier for example. They're lovely little animals that are playful and don't require much food and medical costs.

As for a bird. It would most likely be eaten by the cat, or just sit there and annoy you while you try and sleep.

birds are nice animals, though they are not that playable (obvious reasons). That may be a bad idea do to the fact that cats like to eat birds. But they are nice animals.

I have this sweet little dog, he's a Shit-Zu and Miniature Poodle mix. He's adorable, and very fun to play with. Great attitude, and he's very laid back. He's very small, probably around 20 pounds. He was a great choice. Birds, are not so much a good idea. I've had Budgies before, and they are annoying as fuck. Don't think about hamsters either, they dig in their cages at night, rattling metal and such, they are annoying as well.

Birds are really annoying. They chip and chip like nobody's buisness all day long. I suggest dog. A dog is a man's best friend :p. They follow orders and never protest any commands.

Tell your parents that it is a good sign of your maturity and you feel like you can take on the responsibility of having your own possessions and you think it will be a good experience to learn and to be able practice looking after something (for when you have kids yourself!)

    Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't get a bird, as people said you can't interact with them, and if you have 2 cats already, I think that's enough. If you do get one, it would probably make a lot of noise and be too much of a hassle.

I also live in an apartment, and if yours is anything like mine, you need the windows open a lot of the time. So you would need to keep it caged up. Birds surprisingly smell really bad, and the fact if you did let it out it would either fly away, poo everywhere. Or be eaten by your cats. Get a tortoise, the more docile the better.
