    Command Prompt Tricks, etc.

Awhile back I had a computer problem that took forever to solve. Whilst I was looking for a solution I came across a bunch on tricks, and fun things to do with command prompt. I thought it would be cool to share my knowledge of cmd.

    How to open CMD
On Vista just go to Start and at the bottom there will be a search bar, type in cmd. If you are using anything else, search for Run, and type in cmd. [IMG]

    CMD Colors :)
This is fun to do if you are working on command prompt for awhile, however it is completely useless. Once cmd is open type in color jnsaivo, or any other random stuff after color. And this will pop up.

You then type color and whatever colors you want for the background and text.

Getting the IP of any website
This is easy and again useless unless you wanted to stalk a company or person that owns a website...? Open CMD and type:ping (website name)
In this example I used www.sythe.org and this is what pops up.

What's circled is where the IP will be. If you are saying, what am I going to do with an IP? That brings us to our next trick, which isn't really CMD.

What to do with an IP
IP stands for Internet Protocol, so basically every internet user has their own IP, with an IP you can trace where the server for websites are, and where people live. If you go to www.ip-adress.com you can type in an IP and it will give you a map image of where it is located. It will also tell you your IP. Once you go to ip-adress.com you'll get this.

It says your IP and gives you a map, scroll down to the bottom and it says IP tracer click that and you will get this.

I typed in the IP for Sythe (hope you don't mind  ) type the ip here and it will show a small map of the area (to the right of this)

Ip's are also the same thing as addresses, type the IP in your browsing bar and it will take you there.

    Cmd Messages
This is mostly used for making little messages, but it works for saving any action with CMD.
    You start by opening Notepad.

Fill this in, and then save it as anything .bat, and then open it and your message will be repeated.

    Changing passwords manually
On XP down you can use this to hack peoples accounts on computers. Open CMD and type net user (name of user) *
Then type in the new password twice. (IT WON'T SHOW THE TEXT) Voila. If you are using Vista you must right click CMD and click "Run as administrator" To change the password. If you don't I think you'll get "System error 8" or something like that.

Well I hope this info helped you somehow have fun. :D
