Lets DEMOLISH the Runescape Forum - We need your help!

Alright, this is an idea me and a friend came up with last night.

The Official Runescape Forums is the most venerable spot for an attack. My idea is - Using a forum mod account, hide every post, and lock every thread.

But, you ask, this would take a long time! There are so many posts! Simple - The RSB uses cookies for login sessions. It would be relatively simple to write a bot it PHP, Python, Perl, Bash, or any other language that can use cUrl. (cUrl is a library for url functions - it can imitate a browser and do any action a human browsing could).

I am a experienced PHP programmer. I've done stuff like this before on other forums. I'd take care of the programming, or if anyone else wanted to write the script in a few more languages, thats awesome too.

All I need - from you guys - is:

• A few free web hosts - I have 3 servers I could attack from at the moment. Because of the sheer size of the Runescape boards, we will need at least 20+ servers to be able to QUICKLY do this.
• A runescape Forum Moderator account - Ok, now it sounds like I'm scamming for accounts, Lol. But seriously, all we need for this attack is an account capable of it. - After the attack Jagex would undoubtedly ban or de-mod the account, so it must be sacrificed. =/

- OR -

A password dictionary, so we could use a PHP/Python/Perl/Bash/Java script to BRUTE FORCE (guess password over and over) hack an existing forum moderator account.


What would you do, if you logged on to the Runescape forum and saw EVERY post hidden and locked? There's no way Jagex could unlock them all manually - there's simply so many! It would be equivalent of totally ERASING the forums.


So, any ideas/comments/questions? Post away.

1- Jagex would just use a backup of the forums from a couple of days before, they've done it before, a few people would lose their threads and posts but no-one would really care.

2- What is actually the point in delibrately putting effort into damaging someone else's enjoyment of something? It seems completely and utterly pointless to put in effort with the goal of RUINING something.

The fact is Jagex arent exactly gonna be phased by this, but thank you for reminding me of the idea of cracking the forum mods . Endr1x here I come. How much you think a forum mod account would be worth on somewhere like this? Theres only like 50 mods in total, a forum mod would be a pretty rare account

Perhaps we could just do it and have 1 forum open which explains why.

Duno... but if its going to be done, it would need to be done quickly, properly and professionaly.

 

This is very pointless. Brute Forcing on Sythe is against the rules. If you were to pull off this "plan" Jagex will simply lock down the game and fix it.

its a good idea, jagex needs to know how pissed we are for taking a lot of godo thigns but i admit its very hard to do it, specially getting the forum mod account. Anyways good luck with it.

The Runescape forums are great.... Wow some1 has problems.

 

They wouldn't lock down the game they would simply use their back-up files

 

So after you hide/lock all of the threads on the forums, you'll do...what?
I just don't get the point of pointlessly attacking the forums of the game you enjoy playing...

Honestly there are simpler ways to pack a punch to Jagex, this isn't the smartest way.

 

Made my Lol in RL. Anyways - why destroy the forum? Good waste of your time. Jagex just have to click a few buttons and it's back to how it was while you waste forever pointlessly.

 

If you don't like Jagex don't play there game that they have every right to change how they see fit, if you don't like it go somewhere else, seriously all these people hating Jagex yet you play there game but you moan at how you hate it, so why do you even have anything to do with RuneScape. Go get a new game that you don't cry over at night because you got banned for breaking the rules which you knew what would happen in the first place...

Simply you signed up to RuneScape full knowing Jagex can change it completely, they have changed it, big one being Wildy, don't blame them, blame the people that RWT, they had to do it to protect there business from loses. Don't go damaging other peoples enjoyment just because you can't get what you want out of a game you hate so much but still play it?
