    Dual-booting with 2nd operating system.

I'm mainly using my 2nd operating system for a QUICK startup, mainly for quick startup for viewing e-mails before I go to school, or to run programs that Vista normally won't support.

    Windows 2000 Professional
    Windows XP Home

^ Which one? I'm mainly looking for a FAST startup. I dont care about features, if I really want them I'de load my Vista. I see a lot of computer programmers/professionals use 2000, while on the other hand most people use XP.

Download Fedora, or Ubuntu, and use them (they're Linux).

Or if you're willing to dedicate many hours setting this up, download and install Gentoo (the proper way, not LiveCD).

Gentoo boots in like 10-15 seconds or less for me, due to many optimizations and tweaks. Linux is for the win.

By the way, Gentoo itself is around 50MB download, but when setting up it WILL take a long time, and you will download at least 700MB for other packages in the process (such as Gnome or KDE). If you aren't Linux savvy (which I'm guessing you aren't) I suggest downloading Debian. Its a larger download, but it does its job and easy to use.

Really, all Linux operating systems take less than 20-30 seconds to start (depending on compiled modules and kernel configurations, etc), I'm just recommending you to a couple that I like. Shredder has given you the easy ones though.

Rather than a Windows OS, I would definitely recommend a Linux system, such as the ones stated above by Shredderbeam and Swan.

Thanks for contributing to the destruction of the ozone and the rising temperature of the Earth.

You're a moron. The destruction of the ozone layer and global warming are two completely different issues.

Nice try at sounding smart, but you fail.

Use windows 98SE if you don't want to bother with linux.
Trust me, if you have even a shit computer, 98SE will load fast.

here's a more simple method, just wake up 2 minutes earlier and by the time xp is booted it would even out the time if say u were using 98/another OS
