    God - does he exist?

Many people have argued about this depending how they were brought up and their personal views. however i read this bright idea.

"if god is real and you believe in him, you have all to gain, and however if god is not real, and you do believe in him, you have nothing to lose, so why not take a gamble and win one way or the other"

    God - does he exist?

No. God in the Christian sense does not exist. In fact, he used to exist, but then I ate his soul. So, he partially exists, just in my mind.

Pascal's Wager is a terrible way to justify your faith.

There is more than one religion, and most religions are exclusive in that they claim that all other religions are false, and their members shall not be saved. If one of these religions is the correct one, you would have to specifically believe in that one to be saved.

Also, God is essentially unknowable. You cannot know whether or not he exists, therefore, you cannot know what he wants. God might just as well want us to focus on figuring out life's problems, and stop thinking about him.

And finally, you can't really believe in God "just in case". Hypothetical situations are not going to change my fundamental views of the universe.

I used to believe in god, I dont believe it anymore. However, I go to church on occasion. People have to believe in someone greater then they are.

    God - does he exist?

Theres so many arguements against this i once heard this idea
"If god is real, can he create a stone that he cannot lift?"

    God - does he exist?

No...I don't believe he does but I do believe that there is something more powerful than us in the world.

Pascals's Wager is exactly why I'm an atheist. If I don't believe in any gods and it turns out that Fabulism is correct, I will go to Fabulous Heaven when I die and bask in eternal orgasm.

well, lets say there isnt a god. If you took time to believe in one, it doesnt really matter much because you didnt really waste much time. However, if there is a god, then all you did was spend a little time, and now you set. If you dont beleive in a god, and there isnt one, then well thats great for you. However, if you dont beleive in a god, and then you find out there is one, then thats gonna suck for you. Point is, id raher take my chances with the side that cant go that wrong (besides wasting a small amount of my life). At keast then i know im safe either way.

God doesnt protect you whether you beleive in him or not. So saying thats your reason for being atheist makes no sense.

    God - does he exist?

    I genuinely don't know anymore.
I used to believe there was no God, and that was firm.

But how do we know? There could be.
There never will be a simple 'yes,' or 'no' answer to this question.

    God - does he exist?

No. And there are many more things God cannot do. But that certainly doesn't mean He isn't real. Just means that there's a common misconception.

    God - does he exist?

your right. Also god isnt a thing either. As in he exists outside peoples understanding. The basic understanding most people just follow. Just like all those sories like adam and eve arent real. Theyre narratives.

    God - does he exist?

Wrong. "If god is real, can he create a stone that he cannot lift?" That for one, is somewhat like a paradox. Secondly, the real answer is neither yes or no. It is both. God is God, he can do both. How is that possible you say? Well, for one, no human could begin to explain it. Our minds are too simple to even start to comprehend something as small as the statement above.

EDIT: Secondly, you aren't safe or unsafe depending on what you believe. It's so much more deeper than that, and in the end, simply saying you believe, won't be enough.

EDIT EDIT: Lastly, if like you said above, are willing to "waste" a little time to be safe, then that shows right there you truly don't believe in God, but your belief is only words and not faith.

    God - does he exist?

I do beleive in a god. I just get kinda mad because it all gets thrown at me. I goto church once a week, and i have to goto a catholic school with a religion history class everyday.
and naturally right now im questioning my religion, so im sorta half & half right now

edit: its not even the school/church that angers me. Its the type of people that just take it way to far. There are some people who will act like complete assholes because they beleive god loves them and that they do more for him then you. Its just a huge annoyance and when your stuck around them all day, it builds up/

    God - does he exist?

That is perfectly fine. Except, I am only trying to say you're giving a wrong perception of believing in God, and having faith.

You are looking at it as if someone says, I believe in God, and they'll be saved while if they say I don't believe in God, they won't be.

I was just trying to bring the point across that's it's so much deeper and complex than that.

EDIT: I think we may very well be on the same team, I just wanted to clear it up.

    God - does he exist?

yes i understand and i beleive we're on the same side. I was just inferring that most people follow basic Humanitism, because whether or not someones atheist, they should still respect others.

    God - does he exist?

    1) I'm not atheist and yes he can protect you so dont give me bull saying he can't

    2) If he doesn't protect you, whats he do? Sit in heaven all day doing nothing but picking his nose?
