    Smoking

I was going to put this in something for all, but I would probly get an infraction for putting it in the wrong section, however, this IS something for all.
I wrote this as a text message to my mum, who's a smoker, and thought, 'no, one message won't let others known.'
Because I'm 15, don't go 'psh neebz' because smoking is just as serious as drink driving, taking drugs, its responsible for the majority of deaths.

So without much ado, here's my message...

Cigerrettes have taxes on the (in australia) and the money the government is getting from the tax is fucking rediculas, and in my opinion, its the reason they haven't made smokes illeagle.
Smoking ISN'T cool, its not GANGSTER, its not even socially acceptable!!
You think you look tough, the girls dig it, but think about this... you see a 3 year old with a fag hanging from their mouth, THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN PEOPLE LOOK AT YOU SMOKING.

Urgh... another smoker just sat down next to me and there's 8-11 year old kids here -.-'

    Pssshhhh neebz

Smoking should have been utterly and truely banned many years ago.

It is a compromise of other peoples health, without their authorization.

In England, you have a choice whether to smoke or not. It's legal, however, it has recently been banned in public places, - which was good, - however, I still feel more can be done.

Technically, we don't have a choice whether we smoke or not. Children are brought up in homes where their parents smoke, and the child has no choice but to inhale, smoking passively.

No passive smokers actually have a choice. People are allowed to smoke in the streets, allowing damage to your own personal health, without you authorizing this.

    It's disgraceful.

Here, ill find something bad about you.
You joined in september this year, and you post count is 111.
Now I need facts to back my theory up...
Judging my your numerous vouches (that hurt my fingers when I try to scroll past them using my smartphone) I would you obtained the post count by spamming, thus looking better in the black market.
Judging by your reply, I would say you spammed semi-relevant or semi-intelligent replies to threads.

Now! To the subject on hand!
I completely forgot about passive smoking!!

Anyway, before (and sometimes after) school, we hang out at the gazebo a short walk from the school. When we get thre, usually there's some sort of drug left on the table and you can see cigerette buds lying everywhere - just from people who are in year/grades 7-12.
I go there because its where my mate hangs, so we just chill there before school - usually while he is smoking (tobaco or otherwise) and one day when we were walking to school, something about getting expelled for smoking arose and he had this extremely smart comment (smart for him), 'they can't expel you for smoking, you addicted. They can't expel you for an addiction.'

They can't expel you for an addiction... obviously they can because they do, but that was my long way of showing you something.
As one of the previous posters said, young children, even before they were born, are subject to smoking parents. I believe that's where the addiction starts, not when they take their first drag, but when they smell that scent.
When I took my first drag, it was easy as all hell because I sit outside with my mum while she smokes, she hates me sitting in her smoke and tries to avoid it, but I like sitting out there with her.

You get little kids that want to be all hard and do things like smoking to look tougher. There's a fault somewhere in the childs parenting or their schooling.

We can find excuses and facts to back up the excuses (google is full of spam) but you can't deny the facts - smoking kills.

What sort of nubcake watches baseball? Especially for 13 hours a day? Personally I'd rather be either programming or just roaming lol.

Respect because of a join date isn't exactly right. They could be complete fags for all you know. Just like calling a really cool guy a dickhead because he has 20 posts and a life to boot.

Smoking is bad, definitely. Never needed to be told that.

    Smoking

I also live in Australia and I work at a Smoke's Shop.
    Here's my personal opinion.
I see people spending $10 (AUD) daily on a packet of smokes which supposedly relaxes them.
$10 may not seem like much, but imagine (and calculate) a $10 deficit everyday for about 5 years? ($1825 for the lazy people)
That's just the average people, I see people buying like crazy, about a "50 Cig" pack per day which is approx. $16-17.
They are spending money on worthless crap which kills them instead of helping them.
The new warnings on cigarette packs are useless, people come to me saying they stopped smoking and will never start again, two days later they'll be back, sometimes buying more.
People are now addicted more than ever, and I hope the government will do something about it, like more banning of smoking in certain places, and maybe even ban of smoking in a household with children in it.

I will never smoke, and will never even think about it.

The reason people smoke as because we live in a free country where you have the freedom to choose. If someone wants to risk their lives over a smoke, it's their problem.

    Smoking

People continue to smoke because of stress. It helps them feel better althought I dont know why. Some people may smoke because its addicting. They tried it,liked it,and smoked till their death.Teens smoke because its "cool"I dont see anything cool about it.Maybe they dont know about it?

I doubt they will ever ban smoking. It makes a lot of money for the government.

Ciggarettes are one of the worst things to smoke (besides major drugs). They have MUCH more chemicals you inhale than weed and stuff. I have smoked once or twice, but never again. Its stupid, why ruin yourself and make yourself so fucking ugly for like a few minutes of pleasure, not worth it to me.

Btw do you live in New York, sounds like my dad what you saw, lmao.

    Smoking

This is a stupid topic - seeing as nobody is actually going to stop because of this. I find that if you want your mother to stop smoking, you have to be assertive.

Take her pack of smokes and lighter. Start using them yourself (but be fucking careful, and don't overdo it). Tell her unless she stops, you'll keep going.

Of course it has a risk factor, but if she gives a damn about the safety of her child, she'll definitely stop. Either that or you have a pretty pathetic mother. Either way.

I think smoking should be banned because it harms others, if it harmed just the user then i'd be fine with it. It's your life, your decision, but i don't believe its your decision to damage others health.
