Can modern sciences really be accurate?

Over the pass couple hundred years, theres been times where Science was proven wrong time and time again.

In the Renaissance period, which is around the 1600s - 1750s ish, People thought that we lived in a Geocentric universe, which means that Earth, is the center of the universe. Cornelius and a couple other's name who i forgot, Proved that point wrong.

Then it comes Galileo, who proved that the Sun is the center point, and there is planets that revolves around it, which is now called the Solar System, but the Catholic Church denied that until 1992.

After all these and many others that happened, we do not know if what we know today is truely what it is. It could be another one of the cover ups.

    Discuss on your thoughts.

Separate church and state, and just maybe half of that bullshit can clear up :)

Realize science does not have to do with anything related to the Christian bible.

Wrong, In the bible, it talked about the Earth being the center of the universe.

I just learned about it in World Studies.

to the other dude, I left because I was sick of the bullshit. I'm back because of the certain few.

They seem pretty accurate. Some aren't but most are.

Our science may not be completely accurate, but it is getting there. Back hundreds of years ago, they based their beliefs on religion and superstition. We now base ours off of conclusive evidence.

Actually I wouldn't consider that flaming because when I saw your last comment directing to mine, I was about to say the same thing.

I believe that our science is flawed but not much because they are always finding new things that have something to do with another discovery

Ill say it once and for all.. Sience is all about theories and they are not accurate.. We are making our world and making our reality.. So it seems good for all of us..

    First lets define theory:

Now how can you say that? What is unknown to mankind is called a theory to which best fits the explanation.

We are not making our world or our reality.

Have you ever heard of "global warming" or the "sun becoming an supernova"

Those things are NOT good to mankind.

Now I'm not sure where you receive your education, but I'm telling you a average 9th grader world history B+ doesn't qualify you to make such drastic comments.

The only reason the catholic church said the earth was flat was to fight against the "rebel scientists", and their beleifs.

Maybe you should stop and realise that it was not science that lead to people believing the Earth was the center of the universe, but much more the lack of science.

Can modern sciences really be accurate?

Archimedes developed this principle further to derive some more forumlae that I won't go into.

The difference between past and modern science, is that now many hypothesis can be proved by your average person with, the right equipment, prior knowledge, and a brain. Much of this widespread knowledge has come about through the invention of the Internet, causing more people to test, and in turn prove/disprove the given results. Centuries ago, knowledge was not nearly as wide spread, thus limiting the opinions of outside sources (IE: Catholic society believing the Earth is the center of the Universe), and in most causes the popular consensus was taken to be correct.

You should seperate Church and State and things will become a lot clearer. Most scientists are part of the "State" and therefore freely prove Church ideas to be wrong. The Church proclaims things to be true if it benefits them. I think that as time goes by and humanity discovers more and more, our beliefs and thoughts about things will change. There used to be like 10 diffrent models of the atom, each one getting proven wrong and replaced with a newer version. I think thats just how things are because as we find out more information, we change how we think about certain things to match the new info.

I am a Discovery channel and National Geopraphic freak along with the military channel and history channel i love to learn that stuff, You guys should know that all science is, are Educated Guess', Some have been proven correct but the theorys you guys are saying were and are inaccurate, science never said it was the truth all they do is make educated guess' and then try to prove them, if they can't prove it, then they hopfully wait for a newer piece of technology to come out that can help them or a new scientist to help them with something they might not know. Please tell me if im wrong with any of this.
